Changing domain name is a big decision and you have work lot to rebrand your website name and make it popular. Also you should be careful while changing domain, since it can lead to link, traffic and ranking loss. And you have to change domain like professional in order keep your rankings as it is.

On my experience of changing domain name of my blog, I am gonna write step by step guide to change domain name without losing Google ranking, SEO and Traffic.

1. Change domain in WordPress: If you had built your site on WordPress, its easy to change domain. Go to settings and in General settings,  you can find domain changing options.

WordPress provides two domain options one is for database and other for site.

Other option is changing domain name in hosting panel. Since iLoveSEOTips is hosted in Godaddy managed WordPress, it provides options in Godaddy Site settings to add domain names and to prefer primary domain name of site. It made easy for me to change domain.

2) Redirect URL: You have to redirect your old domain to new one. People who are not aware of your domain change, will use your old name to access your website. Don't miss your traffic..! Redirect your old domain to new name, so that your readers will see your site live instead of blank or error page.

As like many webmasters, me too bought my domain from Godaddy. Go to domain cpanel, where you can find domain redirecting options. Provide the new URL for redirection and type. Godaddy provides two types of redirection, one is permanent and other is temporary. Select permanent redirection to redirect old domain to new one always.

3) Keep links alive: Backlinks are important for Ranking and domain authority. You may have spent more time on building backlinks so don't waste them, keeping it live will help you to keep your domain authority.

There is a plugin called link juice keeper which will redirect all your not existing links to homepage. This will help you to keep your valuable backlinks alive.

4) Inform Google: In order to keep your Google Rankings, inform Google that you have changed your site's domain name.

Go to Google webmaster tools, in the site's settings you can find a option called "change of address". Add the new domain name in the Google Webmaster and select the domain for redirection. In the change of address option, you will find four easy steps. Completing this steps will inform Google, that your domain name is changed and this will keep your rankings in Google search.

Breadcrumbs in Google search result : New Google's Algorithm update

Posted by with No comments
Google's Algorithm update made Breadcrumbs in Google search results default instead of showing page url. This is applied only for mobile search and there is a chance that Google may roll out new algorithm to show breadcrumbs even in desktop search.

Breadcrumbs in Google search

Earlier Google said in their developer forum, they are working on schema markings for breadcrumbs and will be rolled out once finalised.

Breadcrumbs in Google search

Google already made a breadcrumbs change in search results with each tag having a link to the page, that is you can click on each tag on breadcrumbs. Later Google disabled links in tags and made it only texts.

If you are using Google search in mobile, you may have noticed ununiformity in google breadcrumbs, some sites may have links and others have url. To end this Google rolled out an algorithm to uniformly display breadcrumbs instead of urls.

Google also announced that breadcrumbs would have Sitename as starting tag in US while in other countries site's url will be displayed as starting tag.

So its time to concentrate on your site structure and optimise it to get better results in search snippets.

For Newbies don't know about Breadcrumbs:

Breadcrumbs are a line of tags which is normally seen in top of the posts mostly in all blogs. According to Google,
A breadcrumb trail is a set of links (breadcrumbs) that can help a user understand and navigate your site's hierarchy.

Enable breadcrumbs in your blogs which will help Google bots to understand your site's hierarchy better.

If you want to customize your breadcrumbs appearance in Google search, you can optimise it using Seo plugin by yoast. Yoast gives you many customising options like making last tag bolder.

WhatsApp is one of the popular media for Messaging and Social Networking especially for Android and IPhone users. Technology is growing day by day so you have to mordenize your blog with latest features.

Things which Mordenize itself according to World needs will only retain in this world.

Adding WhatsApp share button will provide a feature to your readers to share your content in WhatsApp, which will give exposure to new set of readers.

Jetpack is almost installed in all blogs and Jetpack sharing is used in more than 70% of WordPress blogs. Myself using Jetpack sharing in most of my blogs. (In PatherFix, I am using Genesis Simple Share Plugin )

I would always think having WhatsApp share button in Jetpack will help me to add WhatsApp sharing buttons in my articles.  Guys, this became true...

Now a new plugin called WhatsApp Sharing for Jetpack available which will help you to add WhatsApp button in Jetpack sharing.

Plugin link.

I already installed this plugin in my site StarFives and it works fine. Guys you too install this plugin in your site which will attract Android and iPhone users. After some month I will write about the changes in traffic after WhatsApp button.

Hoping for best to happen..!
